Eagle Court of Honor

We had Dan's Eagle Court of Honor this past week.

I set up a table with his scout workbook and

his Eagle project booklet and pictures.

Milan went through our old files and printed off

about 60 pictures from Dan's scouting "career"

starting from Cubs Scouts all the way till now,

including lots of other fun pictures as well.

Everyone enjoyed seeing Dan grow up

through the years.

I was given the honor of pinning on his Eagle,

then he gave me my pin and Milan his tie tack.

What a wonderful moment.

We planned the Court of Honor while David was in Nebraska

so that he could participate on the program.

He was able to give Dan the Eagle Charge

It sure made us proud

to see our two Eagles up there together.

Dan gave a great talk, filled with gratitude

and appreciation for all those who had helped

to make it happen.

What a great accomplishment!

At the end of the program he got to sit in the Eagles Nest.

This is an honor he will enjoy for the rest of his life.

We are so proud of you, Daniel.

You are a fantastic young man.

Ladies in Green

Sister Hale, along with myself, Sister Lawlor and Sister Itri

all showed up in green for Zone Conference.

We didn't plan it, but it was fun to match.

Aren't they the cutest young ladies?

All our sisters are so lovely

inside and out!

Four of the Best!

Farewell to Sisters Brady and Bauer

and Elders Miller and Webster.

It's hard to say good bye to such fine missionaries,

but they have served well,

helped change countless lives,

and learned all the Lord would teach them here,

so it is time to go on to their next season of life.

We love you all and wish you the very best!

Nebraska National History Museum/ WWII Museum

Another preparation day activity was a trip to the

Nebraska Natural History Museum

located on the campus of the University of Nebraska in Lincoln.

Here we saw the biggest mastodon skeleton in the world

along with other amazing prehistoric bones.

We also saw lots of stuffed wildlife native to Nebraska,

The one on the left is a water buffalo I believe,

and the one on the right is our Matt.

If you look closely you will see a distinct resemblance

between Dan and this very large chimpanzee.

Later that day we ventured to the WWII museum,

which turned out to be a private collection of all kinds of

World War II paraphernalia.

The real treasure in this 'museum' was the collector himself,

who proceeded to give us a private tour

(we were the only ones there)

of his amazing collection.

We ended the tour by inviting him to learn more about

the church, but he was too busy.

I think we have seen more of Nebraska

then most Nebraskans.

We love this great state

and it's wonderful people!

Too Soon...

With only eight weeks left to go on his mission,

Elder Moore had to go home to have surgery.

He is one of our great Spanish speaking missionaries.

Elder Moore has had a lot of success

in the last twenty two months,

helping convert five people to the gospel

in the last six weeks alone.

What a way to end a mission!

We love you Elder Moore.

Halloween 2010

Pumpkin carving...

and spooky Halloween dinner.

On the menu:

bat steaks, pumpkin brains, bone rolls,

apple grins with teeth, cheese fingers,

slimy jello with worms and dirty water to drink.

Delightful!

Elder Meza

Elder Meza came to us this past week.

His spanish was so good the MTC sent him out ahead of schedule.

We can tell that he is a going to be a great missionary.

Welcome, Elder Meza.

Transfer Board

My office is down in the basement in what we call

the 'Transfer Room'.

This is because, behind me is the huge transfer board.

Every missionary's picture is up there

with his or her name and departure date.

We use these pictures to help plan the six week transfers.

Much thought and prayer goes into each and every transfer

taking into account the needs of the area and the missionary.

It usually takes a good week of hard work to get everyone

where they belong on the board.

Afterwards though, we feel such feelings of peace.

What a blessing to know that the Lord guides us

and loves His missionaries.
